Puppies grow at wildly different rates depending on how big they end up. A toy breed is already a third of its adult weight at eight weeks; a Great Dane is not yet a fifth of the way there. This calculator estimates the adult weight your puppy is heading for, using growth curves built from the veterinary records of millions of young dogs.
Estimate your puppy’s adult weight
Enter your puppy's age and current weight to estimate the adult weight, and see how that compares with healthy growth curves.
Your estimate will appear here, with a growth curve showing where your puppy sits against dogs of the same adult size.
Estimates only, not veterinary advice. Growth curves are derived from Salt et al. (2017), built from bodyweight records of millions of young dogs and used under CC BY 4.0. Adult weight ranges follow the American Kennel Club breed standards.
How it works
Two numbers get you an answer. The rest just sharpens it.
Weigh them, note the age
That is genuinely all you need. The calculator figures out which size class your puppy is heading for.
Add the breed if you know it
This anchors the estimate to that breed’s adult range from the AKC standard, and splits the answer by sex.
Check back as they grow
One weigh-in tells you less than a trend. A puppy holding a steady line is the thing worth watching.
